“None of us will vote for Donald Trump,” said the group, which includes former homeland security chiefs, intelligence directors, senior presidential advisors and a former US trade representative.
They signed an open letter that states Trump as President would “weaken the US’ moral authority”, adding further that Trump has shown no interest in educating himself. “He lacks self-control and acts impetuously. He cannot tolerate personal criticism. He has alarmed our closest allies with his erratic behaviour,” they barbed.
Trump hit back at the rejection, calling the group “nothing more than failed Washington elite looking to hold onto power” and saying they should be “held accountable” for making the world less safe. This setback was followed by top Republican Senator Susan Collins saying she would not vote for him as he lacks the “temperament” required for the post.
